Playable Races

In Dragon Ball Reborn, playable races include: Humans, Namekians, Saiyans, Androids, Changelings, Aliens and Half-Saiyans. Seven in total. This guide will go through them all, explaining their pros and cons, starting planets and how each one of them is unique. Unless noted otherwise, everyone starts with a simple house and 100 zeni.
Androids 0/3

If you go for the androids, here's a few notes to head you off. Never have physical workouts in trainings, go and absorb energy from people, activate some kind of a battle-simulation program, practise with some blasts or fix a wire or two. Never eat or sleep, you don't need to (and you can't even do those things). Ignore fatigue and pain completely. Also, walk like Arnold Schwarzenegger, and everytime you leave a shop say: "I'll be back." Just kidding!
Androids are artificial fighters, created by twisted technology. Since these are machines they start out stronger than most races (but with crappy starting sets). They are not affected by fatigue in battle, so if an android's HP decreases his STR and AGI will stay the same. Androids don't have natural energy signatures, which means that they cannot be tracked by using scouters or Ki sensing, making them almost impossible to find and fight with. Androids cannot use Kaioken, Bukujutsu, Ascension (you lack muscles), Spirit Bomb or Telepathy. This lack of techniques is made up to them with some unique and deadly android-only moves. Additionally, they start with Ki Sensing, Energy Absorption and Hikou (android version of flight). The latter two are for androids only, they also can't teach these moves.
Androids gain less statpoints from training (half of the normal gain, but still +1 to all stats when starting out!), they don't gain from sparring or fighting (unless energy was absorbed) and they cannot use consumables that are supposed to be eaten. They can gain PL via the Energy Absorption technique, or by buying upgrades. Android upgrades are sold on Earth, Vegeta and Frieza 79, and they are not cheap!
These machines have another unique feature: static Ki. Basically this means that a certain amount is always added to your Ki stat, so even if you spend all Ki in a turn you'll be left with the static amount afterwards. This amount is 20% of original Ki by default. If I had 100 Ki naturally, I'd have 20 static Ki, and it would be treated as 120 initially. Let's say it decreases during a battle, first I have 120, then 70, then 50, 20 and it stays there. I have 20 static Ki and I have used it for techniques to the point of reducing it to 20, so no matter how many blasts I spam it won't decrease past this number. Naturally I'd have 0, but the static is added into it to equal 20. The static Ki limit can be increased with upgrades up to a max of 50% of original Ki.
And you can survive without air, so travelling without a space ship is possible.
Statpoints to distribute at start: 20.
Starting location(s): Planet Earth, Planet Frieza 79 or Planet Vegeta.
Starting set 1: Basic Battle Armor.
Starting set 2: Generic Outfit. (Earth players only!)
Aliens 0/3

Aliens represent the vast majority of fighters coming from distant planets. Pretty much the crazy customizable race and also the most versatile out of them all. Alien players even get to customize their (2) transformations.
Aliens may choose their starting location freely, and both sets offer ships. The starting PL is better than nothing, and you get 500 Zeni to start with. As an experienced space traveller you require one day less than you would normally to reach your destination.
Custom transformation requests are posted on the "RPG Requests" forum... you can find the forms there.
Statpoints to distribute at start: 7
Starting location(s): Any planet in the northern galaxy.
Starting set 1: Basic Battle Armor, Basic Scouter and 2 Saibaman Seeds.
Starting set 2: Basic Scouter, Basic Battle Armor and an Arm Blaster.
Starting set 3: Basic Battle Armor, Arm Blaster and a free henchman.
Humans 0/3

Humans get started with less PL and they lack any transformations unique to them, but they start out with 1,000 zeni. They gain +20 exp in their job after working, while other races get +10. Humans also have the best two starting sets, with top-class equipment. They require one less skill point to learn a technique that requires more than one skill point to learn, and they learn the techniques Ki Sensing and Ki Suppression automatically after a PL of 2,000 is reached. Humans might just be the best race to start with!
Statpoints to distribute at start: 6
Starting location(s): Planet Earth
Starting set 1: Capsule Corp Outfit, 2 Capsules and a Sensu Bean.
Starting set 2: Martial Arts Gi, Basic Sword, and 2 Sensu Beans.
Starting set 3: Generic Outfit and +500 extra Zeni.
Namekians 0/3

Namekians have unique and powerful techniques only they can use. These techniques include Namekian Fusion, Regeneration, Mystic Attack and Paralyze Beam. They also hold one of the most powerful transformations. However, it is also one that is very hard to reach. Namekians can use magic materialisation, meaning that a Namekian player can get any item worth 1000 zeni or less ONCE PER MONTH. Nameks start with Ki Sensing, Ki Manipulation, Regeneration and Mystic Attack.
Due to their immense wisdom, they can meditate twice per day to increase their power level, whereas other races have to train, spar or fight, with certain limits. Other activities have no effect on how many times you can meditate during a day. Meditation gains depend on the namek's current power level, as PL increases, the gains decrease.

PL is 1,000 - 9,999: +6 to all stats.
PL is 10,000 - 19,999: +5 to all stats.
PL is 20,000 - 99,999: +4 to all stats.
PL is higher than 100,000: +2 to all stats.
Statpoints to distribute at start: 7
Starting location(s): Planet Namek.
Starting set 1: Namekian Warrior Outfit and a Small Pouch.
Starting set 2: Namekian Villager's Outfit and 4 Ajisa Seeds.
Saiyans 0/3

Saiyans are known for their remorseless nature, natural fighting strength, battle instincts and the ability to return much stronger from the brink of death. They gain PL at the same rate through the whole game, and their legendary and powerful transformation strikes fear into anyone's heart.
If a saiyan survives a fight/spar with 20% or less of his/her original HP, all stats are multiplied by 1,5 (Zenkai). Their "Zenkai" ability accompanied by the fact that their homeplanet has ten times normal gravity, give the saiyans pretty good chances to get strong effortlessly.
All saiyan players start out with an uncontrolled Oozaru transformation that can be triggered with a full moon, or simply by using the "Power Ball" technique. Unless you know the move "Controlled Oozaru", your great ape form is an uncontrollable fit of rage. But the tail has a another thing related to it! It can be grabbed during a battle, to stun and weaken it's owner. If someone manages to grab your tail, you will be unable to attack for three whole turns and your stats decrease by -50% (counted from the current stats). This weakness can be neglected once a PL of 4,000 is reached, a saiyan must spend 2 SP during a training to overcome this weakness. The tail can still be cut though, see the fighting page for details.

Statpoints to distribute at start: 10
Starting location(s): Planet Vegeta.
Starting set 1: Low-class Saiyan Armor and 2 Saibaman Seeds.
Starting set 2: Basic Scouter and Low-class Saiyan Armor.
Changelings 0/3

The race of Frieza, King Cold and Cooler. They are powerful, but few in number. Before starting, read the "About DBR" page through though, it contains some vital info on this race.
Changelings are known for their ability to transform. Lesser members of this race start out in the "first form", whereas the Cold family didn't need to do anything to obtain their transformations, being born in their "fourth forms". The royal changelings would take lower stages to suppress their immense strength, with the exception of Cooler, who had mastered all that huge power.
Changelings can survive without oxygen, so they are able to "breath in space" as phrased by Frieza. Therefore you don't require a ship to travel, but it's highly recommended, since travelling with a ship is faster and more comfortable! Changelings start with more than 4,000 PL and both starting sets offer cool equipment. They also have the most transformations and these are also the easiest to reach.
Statpoints to distribute at start: 40.
Starting location(s): Any planet in the northern galaxy.
Starting set 1: Basic Battle Armor, Basic Scouter and a free henchman.
Starting set 2: Basic Scouter and a Space Pod.
Half-Saiyans 0/3

Half-Saiyans are saiyan-human hybrids. This combination of saiyan and human blood is powerful. Their power can change with extreme emotions, mainly with rage. Half Saiyans start out with the technique "hidden power"; if an ally is beaten in battle all stats are multiplied by 1,5 and you gain one more action per turn, this boost lasts for 5 turns.
All half-saiyan players start out with an uncontrolled Oozaru transformation that can be triggered with a full moon, or simply by using the "Power Ball" technique. This weakness can be neglected once a PL of 4,000 is reached, you must spend 2 SP during a training to overcome this weakness. The tail can still be cut though, see the fighting page for details.
If a half saiyan survives a battle with 20% or less original HP, all stats are multiplied by 1,25.
Statpoints to distribute at start: 8.
Starting location(s): Planet Earth.
Starting set 1: Generic Outfit.
Starting set 2: Martial Arts Gi.
